It is nearly everyone's first question, and the one fewest studios answer. A price without knowing the project is usually misleading, so here are the starting point, what moves the price and how to compare quotes.
The starting point: from €700
A simple small-business website starts at €700, final price, no VAT. It includes:
- about five pages, in Portuguese and English;
- an admin panel to change text, pages and photographs, and a guide in plain words;
- access to the client portal, to send requests and follow the project;
- basic SEO and the privacy and accessibility pages;
- backups and a handover tutorial;
- 30 days of fixes after launch.
It does not include online shops, bookings, connections to other systems, extra languages, writing the text or photography, nor the domain and hosting. The monthly care arrangement is agreed separately.
Payment is in three steps: 30% after our first talk, 40% when you see the first version, and the rest after delivery.
What moves the price
- The number of pages and how different they are from each other. Ten identical pages cost less than five that are all different.
- Features that do not exist ready-made: private areas, special forms, connections to other systems.
- Who writes the text and handles the photographs. If you already have them you save time; if not, someone has to make them.
- The panel: how much you want to be able to change yourself, without asking anyone.
- The languages: a site in two languages takes more work than in one, because every text exists twice.
- Maintenance after launch: what is included and what is quoted separately.
What a template can hide
A site built from a template and plugins looks cheaper at the start, but it has costs that repeat: updates, plugins and the time of whoever maintains them. The fair comparison is the total cost after a few years, not only the first day. If you are deciding between the two, read A custom website or WordPress?.
What to ask in a quote
- What is included and what is left out?
- Are there costs that repeat, such as hosting, domain and maintenance?
- Who owns the code at the end of the project?
- How long does it take, and how do you ask for changes afterwards?
- Can I change the text and photographs myself?
How I can help
With me, new features are quoted separately and what maintenance includes is agreed at the start, depending on the project. If you write me a few lines about what you need, we talk and, after a careful look, I send you a written quote in under a week.
