You do not need to have everything ready to talk to a studio. But thinking about a few things beforehand makes the first conversation shorter and the quote more accurate. Here is the list.
The list
- What is the site for? Receiving enquiries, showing your work, selling? If you can say it in one sentence, that already helps a lot.
- Who decides? It helps if one person has the last word. Many opinions halfway through a project are the most common cause of delays.
- What do you already have? Text, photographs, logo, colours. What you do not have, we can talk about.
- Examples. Two or three sites you like, and one you do not, say more than a description.
- In which languages? If the site has to exist in more than one, decide at the start.
- The domain. Do you have one? Whose name is it in? In Domain, hosting and email I explain why this matters.
- Who will change the site afterwards? If you want to do it yourself, ask to see the panel you will get.
What you do not need to have ready
You do not need a finished design or perfect text. Talking about what you have and what you are missing already helps, and the rest gets completed along the way.
The next step
Write me a few lines about your business and what you want from the site. If you would rather first see what running a custom website is like, try the demo panel.
